I have a mk2 vtr and noticed the top my intake has a hair line crack in and performance isnt all there .. But my mate has mk2 but his manifold looks different to mine also some parts like map sensor has different plug ect.. I was wondering could i fit his intake manifold on and cut the plus and re join if the wires are same colour ect?? I was going to get all parts for free so saves me money

#2Do any of you have a cross over engine? Worst comes to worse is it won't line up with the inlet ports, or the sensors don't add up. I'm afraid I can't tell you.

#3Save yourself the hassle & get correct part to fit your car mate.Quote:I have a mk2 vtr and noticed the top my intake has a hair line crack in and performance isnt all there .. #7To put it simple, The Majority of Mark 2 saxos with mark one engines are W reg, As that was the cross over year, Iv seen a couple of Y reg but not many
To decipher what engine you have the easiest way is to look at the ecu does it have one large plug or 3 smaller connections going to it, all mark one saxo engines and also the engines in the W reg face lift cars have a port spacing of 00 00 and only have one lambda sensor and the catalytic converter is under the car and the oil filter is a large metal canister coming from the front of the engine
On the mark twos, the port spacing is 0000 and the catalytic converter is mounted under the manifold, and the oil filter is a black cap on a cast alloy extension to the battery side of the engine bay using a completely different filter, also using two lambda sensors
Hopefully you will be able to work out weather it has a MK2 or a MK1 engine, In some cases i have managed to get a MK1 engine to run on a 3 plug loom so try and have a look, to me id say you had a W reg car with a mk1.2 silver top engine ( the older mk1 engines P - R reg had a black top engine ( different shape rocker cover ) usually black with a completely different throttle body
If you want to get anal, another way of deciphering mk1s and twos would be the glove box lid buffers on mk1s are a long rubber shape like a paracetamol and on the mk2s its just little rubber things like the rubber protectors on the screen of a laptop lol and youve also got tapered drive shafts on the mK2s might be worth knowing if you have a mk2 change over year because some have tapered some arnt
I know saxos to well
Another confusing thing, MK1 saxos have the same ecu and wiring loom as the change over years yet the change over years have a loom change behind the dash allowing digital dials
I think i have a spair couple of BARE MK1.2 Manifolds in my garage i could sell you but you would have to put all your sensors and throttle body on etc!
Im done boring you all now -
#8Thats weird his is a 'X' reg with same 3 pin ecu .. Yes his oil filter in front of engine..
