Am looking at getting catcams 1321743 ultra road cams it says the vts will need ecu mapped. Will it run crap if I don't get it mapped? Just want to know if I'll still be able to run it till got a bit more cash to get it mapped

#7i ran the "old" version of these, which are the 708's unmapped for a fair while, mine was adjusted though so it wasnt completely lumpy and was kinda set up well
However, it hated cold weather with that cam for trying to idle (could have been i had a fuel leak i found out about after i started to break the fucker on the rail >.< i dunno) but..
I found them to be quite.. lacking, in grunt, it felt like there was not that much power, but it just kept going and going so it was probably just a placeebo affect from jumping from a boosted motor to a n/a cammed little saxo every so often, but worth the money if you want to go there
the worst bit is from idle til about 4.5k it just dosent seem to feel like its picking up the power hard, then as soon as it hit 4.5k its offski, then you change gear and it lands just under 4.5k then it does the same again, but maby its just me

#9tom5190 has a complete vts engine for sale with 743's timed in properly with a mapped ecu, induction kit, p+p t/b, rebuilt gearbox loom etccc for an asking price of a grand for rules sake... cheaper than buying the cams your self, paying a pro to time them in properly and getting the oem ecu mapped up

#11I'd be very careful about fitting these camshafts and running them at high rpm without a remap. You will start to run lean. This is why you will not really see any good power gains until mapping is sorted.

#12it would only be for drive car until I got more cash for map wouldn't be thrashing it anyway

#13Any one rate newmans ph3's?
-
#15catcams blanks are better quality than the blanks newman, piper and all the other companies use. I've never had a Catcams snap in two..

#16I'm selling some cat 743 cams brand new £300 delivered

#18Quote:There brand new from kam racing... No offence why would someone pay new money for something that they cant return if theres a problem on first startup? (Not saying that catcams are prone to it...)
Sorry didn't realise kam racing sold them for £300 mine were from ATSpeed!
Pretty sure catcams have a disclaimer regarding warranty with them being competition parts? They base it down to the engine builder being component?
