Fitting 1.1 centre section exhaust to vts

  1. #1
Hello guys i am looking at buying a new centre section for my car, i know the bore is smaller and i also know it will fit but my question is will it actually cause a decrease in power or will it be fine ?

should cause any issues, would of thought the difference not to be really that noticeable, I know of someone selling a supersprint mid section from manifold back if thats what your after can point him to this thread if wanted?

These are only £13 at my local motor factors so that should do the job for now as mine has several holes in it

Slightly increased back pressure will make it a bit stronger mid range, bit slower top end.
Kinda the opposite effect of a 4/2/1 in some respects i would have thought.

You never want back pressure in a 4 stroke engine.
What I think you along with quite alot of this forum are making the mistake of is confusing exhaust pulse tuning to back pressure.

if you get the right 1.1 exhaust you wont need a decat pipe
i have a 1.1 pipe on my yellow gti as i did a few years back and it didnt seem to cause any running issues
done it on a vtr too

Im not confusing anything, im just giving a seriously numbed down response.

What your referring to is inertia tuning. The size of the midpipe had fuck all to with the black art of pulse tuning.

Without any other insight needed i will just be able to predict that anyone with a VTR or S with say, a supersprint that then fits a 1.1 scrawny midpipe will notice a slight gain in low/midrange and slight drop in top end power.
