#2breathing mods are a start, good air induction, not to sure what best brand, but any 4-1 or 4-2-1 manifold, straight through manifold down, decat.Quote:Just bought a 2001 silvertop vtr wanting to get more power where would you lads starts its completely standard heard the main restiction is the manifold/cat has anyone bought 1 of these ebay manifolds around £150 if so has it made any difference or am i better of saving for a proper make ie; supersprint
be looking around 8-10bhp if your lucky.
depends what you wanna spend. -
#3About 400-500 on induction and exhaust. Just carnt decide on buying these ebay no make manifolds or forking out of a known brand are you just paying for the name or is a a considerable difference in performance. Has no-one bought 1 just search on ebay "saxo vtr manifold" literally dozens come up

#4I have a piper 4-1 stainless. Very good manifold rrp £400ish
I'll take £200posted if of any interest. It is used.

#5I wouldn't worry about the inlet itself, it's not bad. A simple cotton gauze cone filter will do the job, or a K&N if you like badgesQuote:Just bought a 2001 silvertop vtr wanting to get more power where would you lads starts its completely standard heard the main restiction is the manifold/cat has anyone bought 1 of these ebay manifolds around £150 if so has it made any difference or am i better of saving for a proper make ie; supersprint

As for the exhaust, if you chase high rpm peak HP figures and not too bothered about bottom end, a good way to go is a 4-1 branch manifold.
Otherwise, for a mild hp gain and better midrange you should look for a 4-2-1.
I think the key with an ebay manifold, is not to buy a shiny one
I've got a Raceland on my GTI (so I believe) which everyone complains about welds splitting etc I've had no issues with it. -
#6Just gonna go for an 4-1 ebay spesh i think im a fabby myself so not too fussed about welds! I have bought ebay 2stroke expansion chambers in the past n they have been as good if not better than the deps and frescos. As for the inlet thought them cone filters are naff lose power putting them on due to them sucking warm air in?!Quote:I wouldn't worry about the inlet itself, it's not bad. #7Nah, the "warm" air loss is tiny tiny. like, miniscule.
Because the difference in air density on a road going NA engine is minimal, the engine doesn't care

#8IMO
standard air box with a K&N panel in it.
Good service and inc' new plugs.
Supersprint/saxsport/piper
Any 4/2/1 or 4/1. Supersprint/piper are known for being the best quality. My personal recommendation is the Toyosport simply for the value. Overall best mani imo on saxos these days.
Strip out the boot sound deadening and rear seats
Make sure its mechanically perfect
Apex 40mm suspension kit from Kam racing
Detail the shit out of it.
Imo good saxo spec for decent money. -
#9Iv got a replacement filter on my vtr iv had loads of the cone filters and the replacement 1 seems better to me iv allways found that the cone filters make them loose a bit of power but i have allways gone for the cheep ones im putting a 1.1 gear box in it this week iv heard it makes quite a bit off difference to the acceleration but takes a bit off top end

#10Ive got a raceland 4-1 mani, decat straight through supersprint system no breathings mods rolling road'd at 106bhp and 112 lb-ft
