I'm on a tight budget at the moment, and i want my saxo to sound better. Is it better to buy a backbox or an induction kit or something else?
Cheapest way to make 1.1 sound better?

#2Depends what you call 'cheap'.
-
#3If its a m.p.i. 1.1, stick an induction kit on it, plenty of noise that way.
-
#4Mpi or spi when I had mine spi just stuck a cone filter on instead of airbox that will be about 7-8 quid for a cheap universal cone gives loud induction roar and had a kam racing backbox and one point too that sounded pretty good but no matter how it sounds it will still be slow so imo just go for looks.

#5You've answered your own question. halfrauds cone "filter" sounds good, but don't filter for shit

Personally, I'd go for standard.
Silence is golden.
Plus it stops people looking at you funny and trying to race you. -
#7Exhaust as simple as that. I had a super sprint on mine and sounded good
but bigger engine gti or vts

#8Even cheaper option is to drill holes in the air box before the filter element.

#9We'll see once I get my 1.5D back on the road.
It's got proper loud induction. If you fitted a straight exhaust onto it, the induction would still drown it out.
My GTI is standard though, it's actually nice to drive. I can hear the radio.
That's the best thing I remember about the 1.1 saxo. When I drove it, silence. noise doesn't make you go faster, you're as well going silent. -
#10Take the silencer/vacuum pot thing off the air filter. Like the VTRs have, not sure if these have one or not.
Free and makes it noisy. -
#11Replace the middle silencer with a straight through pipe and that should do the trick.

#13All noise but no go.. Trust me you'll regret doing it to a 1.11 user thanked this post:
