    Hey guys,
Not long bought a saxo 1.6 VTR 1999.
My question is how do i find out whether its an 8v or 16v?
Havnet got the v5 back yet since i only bought the car last week, and it doesn't say anything about being 8v or 16v under the hood.
    Thanks guys.

    If it's still standard it's 8v.

    16 v looks like this:

    or this:

    8v looks like this:

The big 16v on the intake is a give away on 16v's

Pros and cons with a 8v, for example you get a bit more bottom end. I wouldn't be to arsed if I were you. Just enjoy the car you have.

Nothing beats flooring it from 35mph in 5th gear and the car still accelerating along nicely, never had that from a 16v. I prefer driving 8v day to day as no need to work the gears.

Bad example On an engine dyno, at no point does the torque curve for the 8v engine (106 Rallye or 3 plug VTR) meet or pass that of the 16v engine.

    Just letting you know

OP keep your car standard 8V are generally more reliable, and better on fuel.

VTR's suck, the wheel arches always fall off of them
