Sportex back box?

  1. #1
Im thinking of fitting a sportex back box but i have a question or to before deciding.
Have any of you guys used one? what did it sound like and would it pop when de-accelerating?
    Cheers guys

I've had a few of these on different cars, all have popped when backing off the throttle, had one on my 1.1 saxo back when I was 17 and it constantly popped and banged off throttle. But also worth noting is that every sportex box I had droned like mad and anything over a 20min drive would leave me with a banging headache lol god knows why I kept buyin them, probably because they were very cheap! There are nicer sounding exhausts out there but depends what noise your after, personally jetex are all I would have on a car now other than standard exhaust.

they're very loud, have a sportex back box on a standard system with cat. sounded nice but like ccr89 said anything over a 20 minute journey starts getting unbearable. now have a full miltek exhaust and it sounds amazing when accelerating but silent when cruising on a motorway.

Well i havent actually bought it yet just watching it on ebay and might make a bid or 2, can't really moan if i get it cheap, i want a nice deep tone when driving and a nice rumble when idle and also want the pops when coming off the acelerator.
If i did get the sportex it would be getting fitted to a full standard system for now...I suppose if i dont like it i could sell it on and change it

yeh its worth a try out if you only do short journeys and want a loud exhaust but if you use your car for longer journeys on a regular basis then think carefully as might just be a hassle taking it straight off again lol (or keep earplugs in the car for those journeys)

Atm i dont do any long journey's so im safe there.....atleast for now

Lol Martin, i would get the whole lot done but funds are low and what if i dont like it in the end? id have to piss about taking it all off then sell it to get another lol.
I think the sportex im looking at is a 2.5" rolled tip

Not a bad price, i got mine new for about £100 including postage, and that was a 4". Maybe check out the price of new ones, that way you'll know it fits, and it'll be new..

They're nothing but noise tbh. 3" is loud enough.

Okay for what they cost but thats about it.
