Selling engine

   Good afternoon guys
   
   I've got a vts engine forsale on eBay at the minute someone as asked if the ecu is un-locked ??? How and what does this mean
   
   When I stripped the vts I've kepted the following items
   
   Engine
   Ecu
   Wiring loom
   Black box from dash
   Key barrel
   
   What else would I need do you think ....

   On the std ecu you can remap it so many times before it locks itself.
   
   I its been unlocked you can remap it countless times.
   
   I may also help if someone is fitting it for a conversion but I'm not entirely sure.

   The ecu will only be unlocked if you removed the immobiliser box whilst the car is running
   
   If its still locked, it the ecu can still work if you supply the black box and the ignition barrel & key with it, although the buyer will have the hassle of swapping it all over when he fits the new ecu

   unlocking the ecu simply means you can fit it in to another car without the old immobiliser making it easy to do conversions, its got nothing to do with remapping, all ecus are locked untill someone unlocks them

   general rule of thumb is that conversions that consist of an engine, box, loom and unlocked ecu are worth around £300 all day long
   
   as your kit doesnt include the box or an unlcoked ecu id say its worth around £100 maybe £130 with the loom, the ecu is pretty much worthless now, its cheaper to just buy another ecu thats been unlocked than to get one unlocked, with a unlcoked ecu id pay up to £200 maybe a little more and then as id say £300 for all that with a good box

   I'd sell the immobiliser box and ignition barrel with it so the ecu won't have to be unlocked to work, other than that it looks fine tbh
   
   Think you have misjudged the post & packaging price a bit though lol
