Car carries on revving when I touch the throttle - unkinown sensor ???

The engine carries on revving when I touch the throttle and does not stop - this happens all the time.

I searched the forums here and there is a lot of mention of a possible problem with the Idle control valve?

Now I have 2 Saxo's , a manual and a auto, the auto has the revving problem.

I can find the Idle control valve fine on the manual car but not on the auto. I have found a sensor where the ICV should be and you can see it in the attached picture. It looks burnt out but has no part number on it just 'BR02'

The Auto is a MK II 1.6 ltr SX Auto 1997

Anyone know what it is and if it could cause the revving?

    Cheers

    Kurtis

Someones just told me it could be a 'carbaretta reheating unit ' and I dont think that would be the problem

On a fuel injected engine??? Lol.

The problem will be your idle control valve clean it or replace it.

So I just got the official diagram from the Citroen dealership and it is a Carbarettor reheating unit but more importantly I have also found where the Idle compensator or the 'Air Control Valve Stepper Motor' is - bolted under the bloody manifold!!

So im guessing I should go for a replacement from everything I have read on the forums here

So I can just try cleaning it?

check voltage at tps --if more than 0.6v --your cable is too tight or t/body needs closing by the little adjuster ,or tps is faulty --first thing to check

Well it was black inside and nothing moved so I cleaned it with WD and now its clean and moves freely inside so I will give that a try (after it has dried)

Just for ref,the unit in your pic is called an idle actuator control valve, not an icv & performs the same function.

Thats right mate,on the back of the throttle body & very expensive to renew on these because they`re a different design,£176.00 I was quoted for new one.

mine does some thing like that as well , mine stalls a lot and if u try to keep it running by holding at say 2k rpm it revs up and down on its own, mine is a 1.1sxi mk1 would this be the icv playing up , would it just need a clean or a new 1, any 1 else had the same prob
