Vts problems after 4 branch manifold

  1. #1
    Hi guys
I brought the old black beaut a 4-2-1 manifold the other day for £60 bargain I thought

But after fitting this which already had a lamba sensor connected the started to play up on me, misfiring and engine management light came on so I thought its the lamba sensor changed it with mind off the old manifold which ran better so took it to a garage today to get it on the snap on scanner which came up with the following code 5000 and over fuelling .they took the light out for me which I thought great.

But blow me on the way home the light as came on again any ideas ?? What I can do to stop this from happening and also when the heaters are on I can smell petrol too which would link to the over fuelling I think .

Got a jp4 conversion and the egr blanked with a raceland induction

I got a 4-2-1 and engine management light was on too, it has the correct sensors plugged in etc and engine runs fine so took speedo area apart to get down to all the warning light bulbs, bit of tape over the engine light, jobs a good un!

When driving her thou you can feel she's abit lumpy and the smell of fuel makes unsure weather the 4 branch was a good idea now

I fitted my 4 2 1 nearly a year ago on my VTS and it's been fine

I know I had one on my last vts wasn't a problem but with this one more hassle then it's worth

Why would the egr value be blanked when the jp4 heads are fitted

Mine has the air pump in aswell. (mk2)

Some people remove them. The mk1s didnt have them iirc.

Air pump ??? Sorry new to this again and it said in the ad when I brought the car egr valve deleted just don't know what could be causing this maybe the following :

New lamba needed which could be the cause of the over fuelling

Or because the sensor is at the bottom end of the 4 branch ??.

Exhaust manifold gasket on correctly, thats where your smell of fuel could be coming from.

Mite be worth replacing that then just a pain with the bolts again and have you had that smell then ?

will have nothing to do with the manifold itself, but probably any of the parts you faffed with when fitting, or something totally unrelated.

It will/could account for the exhaust fumes smell,if the manifold isn`t sealed correctly with the gasket.Thats the whole point in having a gasket.

It's a brand new raceland air filter and when I get it plug in keeps saying O2 sensor will just have to spend the money and buy a new lamba I think

    My vts 51 reg

With one lamba sensor is that correct ???
