I've recently been looking in to getting my Type R remapped, I've just had it fully serviced, japspeed sports cat with stainless steel exhaust. Dyno run says its running at 225bhp but what gains would I get for a remap? 20-30 bhp maybe?
ecu remapping gains?

#2Talk to Daz at endless horizon there isn't much he doesn't know about Hondas and tuning them, tell him rusty pointed you in his direction
-
#3you will be lucky if you can find some one that will remap the standard ecu without a piggy back such as the hondata k pro or the k100.
And where did you get a dyno run that give you 225. with just a exhaust and a cat. -
#4I went to a place called powerstation in cheltenham. Cost me £45 for one run and the exact reading was 225. They have good reviews and accurate readings so that's why I went
-
#5A map wont give you any where near 20hp on a N/A car with vtec or not.
-
#6and the mods you have wont give you 225 either.
-
#7Well maybe the dyno is reading a bit over but the guy ain't going to bullshit he's only repeating what the graph says so why the attitude ffs.
This place is unreal at times.... -
#8The k20 lump on ctr's generally respond better to basic breathing mods than saxo's do
To the op, before the remap, change the exhaust manifold/header to a decent stainless one or one off a dc5 if your on a budget as the standard ep3 one is restrictive, and get a decent induction too, then look into a remap. With all that 250bhp is a reasonable target to aim for
Btw the standard ecu can't be mapped on its own, you'll need something like a k100 or k-pro if you want to self map it, or if your on a budget you can use a dastek or get the standard ecu chipped on p28 etc -
#9settle down boys
ep3 is 198 and if its a jap spec its 208 as std with a very small dia ex system -under 2"
--so its possible on a nice cold day with larger ex and free flow cat it could get a big hike in power
I know when I did a rotrex s/c conversion and swopped std system for a custom btb+ sports cat it made another 40+ bhp
and car as std before any work made 180@wheels -- so its possible
as to a remap --doubt its worth the cost if your keeping it std
if your hoing to do more things to it ,then go for a mappable ecu -
#10The airflow in the powerstation dyno cell is bloody epic.
-
#11Thread cleaned. If you want a bitch fight, take it to PM's. That's enough here.
-
#12I've just sold my type r but my friend had a gippie m induction kit, 421 branch and a 3" system, and a spoon inlet with a k100 ecu. After map and dyno it came out at 260bhp
