Furio Saxo Custom air filter?

   I have put a custom air filter on the top of my air intake on my saxo. Will this break my car? Because I have been told that it can break the air intake senor? My brother had a corsa and his air intake sensor broke and they said it wad because of the custom air filter. So is there any chance of this breaking my car?

   Bottom end went and then shat a rod through the block when I had a custom air filter.
