Torn between induction kits!

So basically I just had a lovely tax rebate and decided it's time to do something with the air flow in my MK2 VTR. Its always nice to keep costs down so i'm not sure on wether to go for a simple Green panel filter and find a way of plugging the resonator hole.

Or go for something like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3209255758...84.m1423.l2649 However the quality of this doesn't look great and most people on here say that the standard air feed with a green panel filter actually give better performance than CDA kits etc...

    Pick the panel

Any particular reason as to why other than what I have already mentioned?

    Nope!!

Fair enough!! Any ideas on plugging the resonator hole for better air flow? Or is there not really much point?

Just go for a panel filter, induction will just suck in warm air from the engine bay.

Ok, does plugging the resonator hole provide any benefits?

    Panel filter!
Think the resonator is there to quieten the induction noise so will be louder without it

    Procomp ftw!

    Yes 100%

    Expensive.

I would suggest a replacement panel filter as the saxo engine bay is pretty small and Induction kits can suck in warm air.. K&N panel in mine.

The resonator is only there to stop excess noise mate.

If you get a new kit then I'll have your standard one off you, swap it for the driveshaft if you want

For mk2 vtr i have to offer

    K&n gen 2
    Bmc cda
    Or k&n pannel filter

Hit me pm if any interest

I would ignore any advertisements about performance gain, you wont feel any differance on a standard VTR with any induction kit from my experience.

the standard airbox is your best for performance most will agree, with a K&N or other panel possibly even better.

Your basic options are, induction noise or no induction noise.

The standard airbox with its little pipe on it silences all the induction noise, with an open cone you get lots of induction noise.
I thought my enclosed induction with a cold air feed was quieter.

The BMC i had hardly made any induction noise. Not really sure why, something to do with the fairly unique design they have i imagine.

The thing that lets BMC down is the alloy pipes attaching to the filter. We've had customers reporting good gains using the simota kit vs standard. The Simota is the high quality version of that ebay kit and has better parts, plus a much better carbon effect.
As for simota vs performance air filter - I've never tested back to back. I doubt there is much in it when on the move unless there is some compromise in the original induction feed.

ITG maxogen is nice, shame they cost 80% of a VTR though
