106 exhaust manifold

    wondering about fitment of an exhaust manifold, on ebay states phase 1 106 1.4 and 1.6 1997+....however despite that year it says will not fit phase 2...
    the main issue is will an 8v mani from a rallye or anything fit any 106 8v engine such as a 1.0 one like my own?

    If you have the mani cat nothing will fit straight without relocating the oil filter apart from a piper manifold

    You have a 1.0 XN 106?

    ANY 8v manifold should fit your car.

    They say it won't fit S2 to cover their arse cos most of them have cats in the manifold. earlier models are all under floor cats after the manifold.

    thats exactly what i thought at first but it worried me not seeing any smaller engines with them. yeah my cat is under the car too, thats great to know mate cheers, just got a piper backbox and looking for a raceland mani too

    are the sportex manifolds any good, do they increase flow aswell as the others, they seem a bit too cheap compared and have lack of faith in them lol

    lmao heard this a lot and i know its all true and ill be burning my money when i can get more from another engine, toyed with getting a different head for that reason but a little part of me wants to see how powerful i can make a 1.0 as a test just for my first car as 100bhp would be impressive lol

    Good luck getting 100bhp from a 1.0, it's be easier to swap to a different 8v lump and much much cheaper

    you can get 100hp from a 1.4 furio engine, with cams, breathing mods and a remap (effectively making it a 1.4 XSi engine from a 106)

    In fact, you could probably get about 90-95 hp unmapped. I've seen that done plenty of times

    100hp/litre is a big ask. would need to go forged and standalone management, ITB's and high revs. lots of money needed there. would be cheaper to turbocharge it!

    I have over 100hp/litre
    My engine cost in excess of 8k to get sorted to that level

    Could just boost the 1.0
    Iirc gav wan got 120 odd out of a 1.1 for about 15 minutes

    I know someone who turbo'd a 1.5D to 100hp/litre, well, almost. yes, diesel.

    it lasted 4500 miles of hard driving on standard internals!

    it sounds stupid in every way because it is but its my first car and project and i think if i was ever to do something mental to a 1 liter this is my chance lol i would like to see just how far i could go

    I say give it a shot buddy, duck it if it don't work oh well, if it's your first car just do it to see as you say how much you can get out of it, you might wanna look at going down the bike carb rought, get a head off a carb modle with the dizzy and that's your spark sorted a set of bike carbs, cam, exhaust, have the ports matched to the exhaust and inlet manifold, and polished, and I think you would be well on your way, lighten and balance the bottom end, arp head bolts and con rod bolts will let you raise the limiter to 8000rpm with easy, will be screaming ahah, may have the torque of a weed wacker but it will go like the clappers, it's you car do what you want.

    carbs are definitley on the menu, wanting a ready made set, just missed out on a set on ebay! ill wait patiently when i have about £300 ready set back to pounce and yeah just doing exhaust atm. thanks for support! lol
