Ok so, we all know that turbo saxo's and cammed saxo's have been done a million times over so, I am wanting to go different, Honda civic type r ep3 engine with my saxo shell, this is going to be a bit of a pain to do so anyone with any knowledge on conversions would be a big help,

#2Z cars do a kit for throwing in a vtec engine ifhe rear of a saxo but its very costly.
Check their website out

#3I just had a look and I can't see the kit for the saxo anymore.
I'm sure they use to do it. -
#4I havent looked into it, but Id imagine it isnt that hard; one of the guys on the AXOC has a vtec (im sure its a b18) in his AX and he did all the work himself. Thats mounted in the engine bay, not in the boot.
Still sounds fucking horrible though lol -
#5I would prefer the engine in the front not rear and I think its possible just I need to know stiff like will I need custom drive shafts or will the ep3 ones fit and stuff like this
-
#6Youll deffo need custom shafts for a start. And custom mounts, and custom exhaust. Everything will need to be custom.
-
#7I wonder how much this would cost?
Would it not be more cost effective to turbo the j4 unit and have barrels of fun. -
#8Shafts aside you could do the majority of it if youre handy. But given the arseache, time spent doing it, the fact so many tuning paths have been well trodden with regards to the Saxo and hence availability of parts, Im not sure its worth it.
I did consider, and size up a 206 GTi engine to go in my AX though
-
#9just buy a del sol vti and use all the parts off that just need to cut then weld mounts in measure up shafts wire it up off you go
-
#10Isn't someone on here doing this already?
-
#11Dave, no - it was done a few years ago, was a z-car subframe in the boot, RWD k20 from an ep3
-
#12Not easy or cheap, does it fit... Yea, just
-
#13simple and best way is get complete front end inc all suspension and brakes and subframe etc
then cut saxo shell to fit the whole assembly -
#14To me that's making more work that's needed. The CTR subframe only connects to the engine in 1-2places on the front and rear mounts, you would still have to fab up all the other engine mounts.. Come to think of it the only advantage I could think of is being able to use civic driveshafts and wheels and the driveshafts are easy enough to do

#15Danny, you're swapping in a K20 right? Still going with the Borg Warner EFR?Quote:To me that's making more work that's needed. Any progress on that monster of a project?
