Surly they both do the same :/

Hi every , okay so I'm looking to put a cold air induction kit on my saxo vtr , okay I'm on a budget an so far come up with these 2 but one says it gives more power mid to hi range

    Look at this on eBay:

CITROEN SAXO 1.4 1.6 VTS VTR VTL CARBON FIBRE LOOK COLD AIR INDUCTION FILTER KIT

    http://bit.ly/JIOgi0

And this one says power low to mid range

    Look at this on eBay:

    99-04 CITROEN SAXO VTR / 1.4L / 1.6L AIR INDUCTION KIT

    http://bit.ly/JD8ucj

Okay I know one has a heat shield but surly they both do exactly the same thing ?

    Cheers

Put a K&N panel filter in the airbox, better than sucking in all the hot engine bay air.

I had a closed induction kit on my car and it struggled to start and when flooring from low revs it sort of spluttered too until the revs picked up. I put an open induction kit on and its fine now!

Do you have the standard air box in at the minute? If you do put one if these in

Yes it's all Standard at the moment , so will I get the same kind of extra bhp etc from using this sort air filter instead of changing to the open cold air one ?

Thanks for the info too !

Standard air box with a good panel filter will be better than a cheap induction kit.

The open filters (like cone filters etc) generally do more harm than good. They sound loud when you nail it, but take hot air from the engine compartment rather than use cold air from the standard airbox.

So Ross your saying go for the one that goes in the air box it's self ? Will you get the better power gain out of the 2 ? I'm putting a race pipe on the car tomorrow witch as your know loses the silencer , also one of the air filters I linked on here has a heat shield , do they not work ?

Yes - for best performance really you want to keep the standard airbox and fit a "performance" filter - k&n etc. that's my opinion of course but the logic is sound.

The cone filters (even those with a heat shield) suck in warm air from the engine bay whereas the standard airbox is isolated from that warm air.

Performance wise they are right dude, green cotton or k&n panel in standard box

Witch is better the pipecross filter or k&n ?

Get a filter made by Green,no induction kit will see big bhp gains, you`ll be lucky to see 2 bhp at the most.

Save your hard earned £ and don't bother buying one.

I'm just swapping the standard air filter for a k an n filter , still keeping the air box etc , there only £30 give or take

ignore performance, open cone for noise, standard box for no noise.
there will be no noticeable difference between any through your arse.
