Engine Mounting Bracket - S1 16V conversion

  1. #1
    Howdy,

Westwell has just raised a potential issue in my progress thread, so I'd like some clarification if possible so if I need to order any more bits I can do so before xmas hits and everywhere shuts!

    I'm putting a 2003 3 plug Tu5J4 into my 1994/5 Ph1 106 shell. It currently has a single plug 954cc lump in it.

I've bought a Baker BM Group N drivers side inner wing mount for a ph1 106 from Kam Racing, I'm intending to use this, with the rest of the mount from the 954cc lump, to fit the 16v lump.

Will that work? Or do I need to cut the bracket out of the 16v shell and weld it into the 106 shell?

    106 apparently looks like this:

My 16v shell has this bracket on the inner wing and the 16v lump has a different mount fitted to the 954cc lump:

    Cheers!

you need to use the S1 106 alloy mount from the XSI/Rallye/Diesel and modify it to suit

    Ah, I have now.

I don't suppose you know if there's a copy where the pics work?

If you want to keep it simple then just use the S1 mounts and modify the arm to look like this (as Chompy said)

You can now buy one from Spoox, if you don't want to modify one.

There should be a step by step guide on the Rallye Register - pretty sure there are more 16v Rallye's than 8v these days in honesty!
