1.0 to 1.1

Ok guys I purchased a 1L saxo with a blown head gasket..... However the previous owner has cross threaded the bolts so the engine is uneconomical to fix.

So can I put a 1.1 engine into the car? do I need to alter anything like ecu? brakes? also would the 1.0 gearbox work with the 1.1?

    Yes. You can.

You'd need the 1.1 ecu, gearbox should be fine. Brakes should be ok!

The 1.0 is the 1.1 there's virtually no difference.

What and just not declare it? What are the odds of no-one ever checking an 8V engine?

If your fast enough no one will get near it to check it

It's cheaper to insure my 106 with all the mods declared than it is to insure it as a standard car. Go figure.

Nooo! I have my 16v lump and everything else declared!
But what I was saying its just not worth the hassle to go from a 1.0 to a 1.1 where you can put a vtr lump in it just as easily and they cost pennies do those engine!

up to him really, vtr lump if you fancy more power, 1.1 if you want the fuel economy.
