Heater blower issue..

I'm aware a common problem with the heater blowers in saxo is the resistor packing in so you only get the 3rd blower setting.

However after getting underneath my drivers footwell today my blower is turning but its just very weak, on 1st, slightly stronger on 2nd and then full blast on 3rd...

Is this still a resistor issue or something else? Also is it really possible to change the unit without taking the dash out? Some say yes others say no..

Have you looked under the bonnet for crap clogging up the fan by any chance. Just a thought as I may be wrong. You only need to pull the plastic trim to see it.

I haven't actually i'll take a look at that tomorrow, can you actually see the fan from the under the wiper arms once the black plastic is removed then?

Yeah, just two torx screws and you'll see it top left. The fan is shaped like a cone, a bit like those bagless hoover things.

Just had a look, its got like a mesh covering over the top of it, but nothing blocking it from what I could see peeking under the black covering

Ah, hoping for you it's not the infamous ignition barrel fail, or maybe a dying fan motor. It's usually a matter of works or doesn't work, weird that you have something in between.

Not having any issues with my PAS or rear demister so I'd hope not.

Being in the footwell when its on, it really doesn't sound to healthy, it does work on 1 and 2 but its so weak the heated air barley makes it out the vents. Think i'll just have to replace the unit
