possible clutch issues or box?

    Evening guys

Occasionally my car is making a crunching noise for literally secands after accelerating In first gear quite quickly from stand still can feel it in the clutch pedal a tiny bit and makes a wuring noise

Allso car keeps revving weirdly imagain putting ur clutch down whilst going 30 and put ur acceleration foot down and release the clutch it just will rev a bit weird I'm not saying that's what I'm doing but it's the same thing if I put my foot down it takes a second then will just shoot up in the revs I've checked air filter ect all fine i suspect this to be a slipping clutch

but what of the crunching in first gear on acceleration and the odd noise could the wuring be the gear box just for refence the car has done 121k no idea if the clutch or box has been changed in the past

    Cheers

The car holding revs will be the Idle control valve + throttle body, it all just needs a good clean, mine used to hold revs even when I pressed in the clutch, I followed the guide posted below and gave it all a good clean and it's never done it since.

but what about the crunching noises mate, allso it revs absolutely fine just goes sky high and doesnt go any where and then u can feel it engaging

It's your clutch. If it revs up while not pulling then that's it I'm afraid.

put the car in fourth with the handbrake on, and bring the clutch up. If it bogs down and stalls chances are the clutch is ok (providing the clutch bite point isnt right at the top the travel here!). If it makes a noise when the clutch is up which then goes away when its down then the release bearing is the most likely culprit - box off job to fix replace it.
If its crunching when changing gears, first port of call is a gearbox oil change but chances are if its got that bad new gear oil isn't going to save the day..

    cheers for there replys guys

butttttttt why would it only do the crunching and weird wuring noise in first gear? and non others

Thats just the way gearbox's go... for example mine is currently whining in 3rd, not an issue at the moment, but in a year or so i'll probably have to change it

Oi. That's not the clutch its the diff. Time for a new gearbox, the clunk/knocking when accelerating gives it away. Been there, done that and had many more brought to me.

again thanks for the replys guys

Krisb thanks for reading, how much would u charge to sort this out?

Beam, Gearbox, welding, starter. If your going to pay a garage your look in at a good few quid. Might be cheaper to buy another motor.

Don't wanna detract from kris Bs work here as I'm sure he does a fine job, however a good used box and fitting with with a couple of mates to help could be a fun thing to do one evening. If you aren't bothered by ratios a used box will set you back about 40 quid and a Tenner in oil

It's not a bad job, just time consuming.
