Would a 1.5mm HeadGasket on an unskimmed VTS head cause any issues??

Hi there I have decided to replace the head gasket on my VTS seeing as I'm going to be stripping the head to reseal the cam covers and I found this head rebuild kit on ebay.

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SAXO-VTS-1...item485c9319e4

The Gasket is 1.50mm but as far as I'm aware the standard one is 1.30mm. Am I able to fit this to an skimmed head? Sorry if this is a stupid question I'm just unsure if it would affect the compression ratio.

Also does anybody know where I can buy the center bearing for the steering rack?

    Thanks a lot.

    Typo error in OP.

if youre lifting the head and its not been off in a while youd be daft not to skim it

Good call I will be doing that now. I found out that 1.50 is standard size so I'll get a 1.70 from GMC after the heads been skimmed. Thanks

Using a standard gasket after a light skim won't cause any issues.

Infact on certain engines it's the done thing as it raises the compression slightly

Im running high lift cams on a 0.7 gasket... I dont advise it because on 95 fuel it retards the ignition so much because of knock its flat as shit on std management...

Thanks for the advice I'm pretty sure the head gasket is alright as it is so a light skimming is all that should be needed.

Are you on a 0.70mm gasket jasper not a 1.70mm or a +0.70mm? If on a 1.70mm did you get the head skimmed 0.20mm before fitting it? I'm new to head gaskets so I'm trying to learn as much info especially on the compression side as I can.

Thanks again Saxp very helpful as usual.

Its a 0.7mm off the jp4 c2 engine and it had 0.01" skimmed from a std head...

Just fit a std 1.3mm head gasket amd stop over complicating it... Use a mls one and get it skimmed until flat... Mine went flat at 0.004" that is within a manufacturers tollerance so dont worry

If your worried about the cr that much taking 0.02" off the head will change the combustion chamber of the head slightly (on paper) so just put a std one back

what speeds and loads are you knock limited at? Whats your ignition timing at peak power? Im running 11.0:1 CR with J4 cams and am only knock limited at low speed WOT

That was std management not the predator im running now, also it was 95 then and i mapped on 99 (momentum) now off the top of my head 32 degrees @ 5k-8k give or take 500 rpm
