throttle position sensor wiring

  1. #1
wondered if i can pick someones brains!

upon cleaning the throttle body and icv etc after doing a service and a cambelt, my car now revs at 1600rpm when its cold and stays there until warm, i thought that i forgot to connect the throttle position sensor back up, but turns out it isn't that, but i noticed that when i moved the wires that go to the throttle position sensor, the car seemed to nearly cut out, then it'd rev that high again till its warm. only revs that high when its cold, its not erratic its constant, just think its a bit too high as before i cleaned it and serviced it, it use to idle at 1100rpm when cold and just seems a bit high now.

    any advice greatly appreciated

okay thanks, i thought of a tight throttle cable but it idles fine when its warm about 800rpm, just when its cold so it can't be that.

i did clean all the sensors apart from the temp sensor, i did disconnect it when it revved high and the revs didnt drop, and the fan kicked in straight away. maybe it could be a breather problem or something i dont know its just baffling me lol

Disconnecting the battery for 1/2 an won`t hurt either as it resets the ecu.

disconnected the battery for a few hours and seemed to do the trick, haven't seen it idle at 1500rpm when its cold, tried blipping the throttle and still hasn't done it, maybe it's cured it hopefully, thanks for the advice guys
