Securing a Carbon boot lid

   Hi Guys
   
   Wondering what you all use to secure your boot lids in place?
   I've got a carbon boot lid to go on my BRM, I've been looking at a set of these:

   But I'm not convinced they would be upto the job. The boot weighs under 10KG all in, Would these allow the boot to move/bounce around?
   
   How tough are the springs? Difficult to open and close?
   
   Also, Where would you stick these? Of course the lower down the better, but given the rear lights on a 200 and the bumper sticks out a fair bit, they would need to go about 1ft above the bottom of the boot lid, both sides.
   
   Having a lock on them would be preferable, but not essential as its stored in a secure garage and will be used mostly for track days and the occasional weekend round the lakes.
   
   Just trying to get some 'real' progress on this before I go ahead and update my progress thread

   my brother uses these sparco springs on the boot of his mk2 escort only done side is you have to use some thick sticky material to protect your paint if they are even slightly curved!
   they are pretty stiff but we also use the standard boot and boot latch

   I'm not sure there will be anywhere to put them on the BRM though... Its a completely different shape lol.
   Ignore the picture, its an old one - But the shape is still the same.
   The sprung ones I think will suffice

   Thankyou. I'll keep that in mind and put something to stop it rubbing the paint! Unfortunately I dont have the option of using the standard boot latch unless I have the boot lid completely redesigned, I imagine that will cost a lot!

    just weld to bits of metal onto the inside of the boot, it's the route I'm going, to put the pins through, there's loads of room for them!

    When are you planning on doing this? Its going to be a couple of months until the car sees the road again - So I might wait until I've seen yours

    next week or the week after, my pal is lashing my cage mounts in so I'll make him do that at the same time.
    
    Basically the pins need to be straight into the car, as you can see where the catches are, so a bit of metal on the inside should do the job, like a 6" ruler kind of deal.

    It took us 3 weeks to change a clutch and 2 months to take the rear beam off and put it back on again.

    Its taking me this long because I start something and move onto the next, Which in hindsight has left me with a LOT more work to do.

    just offer the boot up and see what space you have to mount catches where, pins or springs are basically your options mixture of both or depending on space and mounting points go for whats best, and the springs are perfectly fine on mine, they need to be taught and spaced from the body then there is no paint damage

    I should really sort mine soon, don't fancy drilling the CF to fit the areo catches though

    mark twice, check twice and cut once... it seems sacrilige to cut into carbon but itll look the nuts when its done

    Yeah I've done my bonnet. Rear works as it is so isn't priority at the moment tbh
