#5the best is to check the cams. If you are saying that you head gasket went then just when you will change it check the cams and post here.(pics would be best).

#6Don't get race cams whatever you do If it's for road use, I got Kent race cams and they kicked in at 5k revs so I have to drive at high revs everywhere cause that's when the car isn't lumpy

#7you cant fit any more that a 10.2mm lift cam on std piston, "race cams" are 12-13mm and you would have collision also 5k for it not to be lumpy... who mapped this? are you sure the cam timing is correct? your 4.5k-7.7/7.8 is about right for high lift cams, the std ones are a good compremise for all conditions...Quote:Don't get race cams whatever you do If it's for road use, I got Kent race cams and they kicked in at 5k revs so I have to drive at high revs everywhere cause that's when the car isn't lumpy
in answer to your question catcams 743/708's are good as well as newman ph3, some of the piper ones, pt50/52 i believe are fine but not many people seem to run them... set them up at std timing and theyll be fine, muz i believe has run unmapped cams for ages and had no lumpy or running problems with them.... -
#8as mentioned above , take the rocker cover off and look for " sportcam , piper , kent etc" most likely thought you have standard cams and ecu as 4.500and 7.200 rpm rev limiter are the original figures

#9first thing is get to duno --check power curve and fuelling --then you can make some proper decisions
