#2why would you go to the hassle and expense of fitting a prehistoric vauxhall engine to a saxo
if you wanna start with a 2.0 NA there are muc better/more modern engines about...finding a GOOD Xe these days is rare..shitters are still 300 and rebuilt ones are nigh on a grand -
#3i already have a fully re built engine in perfect condition . just wondered how difficult it is to implant into a saxo . the power in my nova was awesome just think if be fun to try this route. prehistoric maybe but a very good engine all the same thank you.. rated at 170bhp currently.Quote:why would you go to the hassle and expense of fitting a prehistoric vauxhall engine to a saxo

#4It's a good engine but there's going to be a lot of expensive custom fabrication work to fit it which could be spent on tuning a 16v TU engine

im not too bothered about the mechanical side of the conversion but the wiring, loom and ecu sound a bit tricky??

#6Yeah that's the type of engine fitted to saxos

#8C20 or Z20 XE shouldn't be too bad to fit as they sit quite upright with the exhaust on the front like the TU, you need to measure up to see if it'll fit.
weight is another consideration, thought he TU5J4 is quite a heavy anchor anyway, a 2.0 EW will weigh about the same! -

#11You'll be hard pressed to find anyone who can give info like that to be fair

#13if you do end up doing it, be sure to post up a progress thread dude
will be an interesting read!1 user thanked this post: -
#14To be honest if you wanna do it and you have to ask how id not bother. You could tune a vts engine to that power probably cheaper than getting someone to do that work
-
#15As said, most of them will be tired now: there were a few redtop corsas and a nova when I went to Crail a couple years back, my standard VTS engined AX was tearing them a new one all day.
Given that there are off the shelf BE conversion parts, itd be easier to do that, though if it was up to me Id be using an EW from a 206 180 or similar. -
#16I'm not a fan of Other marque engines being fitted.... Just a weird thing I have like its wrong to fit an XE to a MK1 escort! It's just me..
Personally the TU engine Is very tuneable and less hassle or Maybe go for the all alloy EW engine as above and start with 180 bhp and very light and with some of the Be stuff about perhaps less hassle?
