Hi all im new to this forum and owning a saxo, its not going great atm. i have a 2000 1.1 saxo desire, picked it up fri morning breaks went in the evening so £170 later thats sorted. Now my new problem is i thought it didnt have PAS but after checking oil levels i notice the reservoir at the front where the fluid goes in, its topped up at the right level. So it turns out i do have PAS but it doesnt work! have searched google and the only answers i can find is where the heaters and demisters dont work aswell but on my saxo it does. Have checked all fuses in the car and under the bonnet and they all seem ok, thanks in advance for any help
PAS Problem please help!

#2Pas pump failure is a common fault. If your relays and fuses are fine you want to change the pump.
-
#3All fuses are fine, what's the location of the relays and how do I test them? Thanks
-
#4PAS relay is grey & tucked in just under the battery.
-
#6No mate just pulls out, don't know how to test it but won't hurt to clean up the connections with emery cloth. Then put back together.
-
#7Found it pulled it out and it looks fine all the connectors are really clean no sign of rust in them or anything. Anyone know how to test it?
-
#8What would you advise next? Just go for it and change the pump?
-
#11What's the worst that could happen, you break it?

#12Did you buy privately?
If you bought from a used car dealership take it back and complain. they HAVE to fix it.
some legalities in there, but I'm not sure how it works. up to 3 months from date of purchase. -
#13I bought it privately,... So iv tapped the pas pump with a hammer and also turned the steering wheel from side side violently lol when I done this it squirted out the top of the pas reservoir as I had the lid off. Not sure if that helps to show it's not blocked? If anyone is in or near Bristol and could take a look I would be very great full

#14Went round a roundabout earlier and the power steering has just kicked in?

#15I had the exact same problem as you.
Basically, my demister failed, then my heaters a week later, followed by my PAS a few days later. No idea why they went in this order but they did.
Anyway i came across this guide and it worked for me. -
#16It's kind of not the same problem lol, my heaters and demisters work fine

#17Sounds like the pump, all that basing freed it up. Not a permanent fix but you now know it's the pump!

#19is your battery strapped down properly? had this issue with it kicking in and turned out a wire from the battery to the fusebox had worked loose and the tray was knackered, so the slight sliding around made and lost connection. the bizzare thing is only the RAD fan and the PAS stopped working, everything else worked!

#20Funny you should mention that, the battery wasn't bolted down, but Sunday I fitted it properly. Rad fan kicks in fine no probs so maybe it was a loose connection can you remember what cable it was?Quote:is your battery strapped down properly? had this issue with it kicking in and turned out a wire from the battery to the fusebox had worked loose and the tray was knackered, so the slight sliding around made and lost connection. the bizzare thing is only the RAD fan and the PAS stopped working, everything else worked!

#21I had this problem it turned out to be the connection to the relay. Even tho everything looked fine i rewired it without the gray block thingy with a new relay and it was fine
