Important! : Engine bay too hot?!

  1. #1
As soon as my engine warms up my car is so hesitant to shift anywhere it's quite noticeable too as in it definatly takes the thrill out of driving, overtaking power is seriously affected and uphill it just Boggs down I know this is heat soak but it just seems to be too much powerloss just because of that thinking I may have some other issue that's caused once your engines warm? I do have a crappy situated air filter though it's was on from previous owner but I have to let him off because it looks 'cool' haha cheers for any replies

your not going to notice the car 'bogging down' through heat soak. you'll have a sensor or something going bad. heat related, most likely the coolant temp sensor. but could be a no of things. get it tested

What kind of test am I asking for at the garage mate if I take it for this reason? And I don't think the postioning of the air filter helps but I don't think it's the whole reason for my issues although it's a full aluminium looking air filter and even the filter itself is metal gauzing there not filter element fibre like stuff on it and it get so hot to the touch it's too hot to say take it off for inspection till like ten mins of engine off

ask them to read the fault codes. filter position may not help over all performance, but you would barely notice it powerwise, especially on a 1.4, and it certainly wouldn't cause it to bog down

    have a watch

I love them guys I watched one where they rusted a golf and people loved it haha, anyway that changes my opinions on induction kits they sound like a pure waste of money anyway lol good link
