gear selecting issue's

   just brought a vtr for cheap with few slight issue's . number one on my list is the gears, trying to find a gear is terrible there is so much movement. got the car up in the air. where the gearstick goes thru the floor it connects to a bar that goes to gear linkage ether side of the tunnel there is a bolt hole like something is mint to be there any ideas people?

   no found the issue today turned out the previous owner bodge the arm on the gearbox with a small nut and bolt, that in turn gave about 2mm play on the box 10mm+ inside the car

   yes thats it funny how little play = big play via gearstick
