Just bought a 421 manifold for the blacktop saxo (got it cheap) its mild steel not sure on the make was going to try and heat wrap the manifold and wrap my plastic oil filter in some form of heat shield. Has any1 done this or does the plastic oil filter actually stop the manifold from fitting not just the melting problem
Phase 1 manifold on silvertop

#2Fit a mk1 filter and save yourself the ball ache.
-
#3The oil filter will be in the way mate, that's why they have to be converted to the metal screw on type
-
#4Isnt that more of a ball ache?

#5Oryt i fort it was just because of the heat melting the filter? N i have a mate who did the filter swap m said that shortly after his engine started pissing oil then died (he then scrap the engine n put 16v in)

#6Its not that difficult he must have done something wrong.Quote:Oryt i fort it was just because of the heat melting the filter? N i have a mate who did the filter swap m said that shortly after his engine started pissing oil then died (he then scrap the engine n put 16v in)
Converted mine to a mk1 oil setup in january and haven't had any leaks. -
#7Ok mate where did u get the conversion kit from? And do you have to change the oil aswell
-
#8I have read the guide but seems like people having a few problems with sensors n stuff n cannot get the parts from Citroen anymore

#9I got the oil insert from citroen. But they may not have any left so it might be better to find one before you start to take things apart.Quote:Ok mate where did u get the conversion kit from? And do you have to change the oil aswell
You have to take the mk2 filter housing away which I think leaves 2 holes. One is filled in with the insert and the mk1 filter screws onto that. The other hole is supposed to be tapped and a bolt fitted to block the hole. A m10 tap I think.
Alternatively you could fill it in with a metal filler of some sort. Some people have done it and had no problems. I didn't do this I used the tap method with a cheap bit of kit and have had no problems. Been on a trackday and other spirited driving and had no issues with leaks.
Only problem I had was that my mk1 filter rubbed against the manifold. Was a toyosport mani so not the best brand. Had to use a filter from a Renault clio which is the same but a bit smaller in length. This is a common thing I found when researching about it.
There is a guide stickied in the performance section that gives a guide.
When it comes to the oil loss it was only the oil that was currently in the filter. So you may need to give it a small top up. -
#10Nice 1 mate will have a go at weekend if i can get the parts. What about the oil pressure sensor did u not do anything with that as read on tht guide that people havetrouble with it melting
