New some help plz guys

I own a saxo vtr and it is lower 40mm all round front is coliover and found out to day that my coliover are leaking and theres movement on them both. Is there any way I could fix it or do I have to get new one.

My mate has said it is cheaper to get a stranded front suspension and get 40mm spring but can't find 40mm just 50mm so my next Q is will is work 50mm on the front and 40mm on back thanks

Yes that will work fine, saxos sit higher at the back anyway so it will just level it out a bit more. I'm lowered 40mm on front and about 65-70 on the rear and mine sits just right I think.
I believe you can get shock absorbers refurbished, not sure where so wait for someone to confirm but you won't need to buy brand new coilovers I wouldn't have said.

So 50mm will work lower on the front and I ask because was trying not to spend a lot out lol and could u put a pic up of your car to see how it look lol

Yeah it'll be fine! Standard, saxos are about 20mm higher at the back so if your front is lower by 10 than the back, it'll just be more even!
    Here is mine,

On this one, the back wheels are in a dip but you can see how it sits

You need to take the coilover apart and find out what insert is fitted to the hub carrier. Some dampers can be rebuilt but many cannot. Its often not worth doing. Bilstein charge something like £80 for a rebuild per damper for example

Nice jbrady mite have to look I to that and would it just be easyer to buy new coliover or get a stranded one and put a 40m/50m on it ?

Difficulty wise, they're no different. You still gotta take the strut off the car! money wise, a standard strut would be cheaper but then you haven't got the same ride/handling quality but it depends on your money.
I'm only on standard struts and shocks, with lowering springs. For 40mm, you can get away with it as long as you're not too stupid over bumps, the ride is still ok! I am lookig at stiffer shocks though at some point just to improve the handling but knackered wheel bearings and alternate is first on the list!

You will get no help unless you at least try to construct your posts a little better. Nobody is expecting perfect English, but at least an attempt to explain things clearly would be nice.

    That's more like it

You'll need to find either someone breaking a car or find a 106/saxo in the scrappys. Any 106/Saxo will do. They all share the same struts, the only difference being is that some have a mount welded on them for the ARB drop links. So if you have drop links, you will need ones with, if you don't then you can use either.

See be for I had the car raised as it was too low for where I live. The cars handing was nice and now I have had the car raised to 40mm it just don't feel the same e.g very bouncy on the roads but unlike be for it didn't do that and don't know what mm it was at.

Sorry I rush it and didn't think of what I was write befor

So you'll need to find struts with the ARB links welded to them. That's a bit more challenging. There were the VTS, 106 GTI and i think the VTR has them as well. There may be more models but that's all I can think of off the top of my head.

The broken droplink will definitely be causing the bouncy feeling you've been having.

I am at work at the min but when I get home I will take each front wheel off and take and pic of the struts so you can see it

There's no need. If you have drop links, you need struts from a car that had the same setup or you won't be able to use your ARB.

that's driver side and what's this part for because the other day I had the wheel off. It looked pushed out And now it's in ??

That is the steering rack and it's missing a rubber gaitor.
Are sure the shock is leaking oil seems to be a lot of oil on the strut look's like the steering rack is leaking and it gas sprayed oil on the suspension it would be wise to check the power steering fluid level.
  34. #34
So really the strut could be fine and it could be that the steering rack has leak oil all over the strut and dany4494 I am in full time job

Oxass I have just look at the car and it seems to be just the driver side as the other side hasn't got any oil over the strut. Could it be the steering rack and the shock broken ?

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

And forgot to add that the power steering fluid level is full

Cool waz u born in uk

If dirt has got in rack due to no gaitor it will fk the rack the shock may be leaking as well jack the car up take the wheel off clean all the oil off start the engine steer the car from lock to lock a few time and turn it full lock so the rack is fully exsposed where the gaitor should be check for any oil if it looks ok replace the gaitor. To check the shock visualy inspect the piston part for oil with the car on the ground press down hard on car on the same side as the suspect shock if it bounces more than once the shock is suspect.

Yes dany4494 and thank you a lot oxass will try that 2mor and will let you know what happen lol

Thinking about it the hydralic part of these racks is seperate from the rack so chances are it will be the shock leaking however still inspect the rack and clean it andreplace the gaitor.
  41. #41
Ok will go to a scrap yard 2mor and get a gaitor. Then I will clean it all up and try snd find the leak lol
