Speed up your Xbox One

So, this will work for some people - seems to work for a lot - and can seriously speed up Friends activity feeds, Achievements, anything server side based.

    Go to

    https://code.google.com/p/namebench/downloads/list

Run namebench without doing anything else, takes about 5 mins. Itll test DNS for you and recommend any local to you which perform better than your auto-set ISP ones.

If you find a better one, then go to

Home -> Settings -> Network -> Advanced Settings -> DNS Settings -> Manual

and set to what is recommended.

Big difference for me on talktalk, and two mates on BT.

In other words, don't use your ISP's DNS servers...who didn't know that already?

Virgin's seem to be doing quite well, some other ISPs dont seem too bad. But Id say most people will be unaware of DNS setting benefits, those who have heard about it may be reluctant to change their router settings but the Xbox is an easy one to remedy.

For those who feel confident, you can change your routers DNS settings to suit so all your devices should see the benefit.

Not everyones as cool as us chompy!

Computers and the internet are a dark art to me. I had to look up what an ISP and a DNS was just. Infact I haven't owned a computer / laptop for 3 years now, just use my mobile.

When I get an Xbox One I'll give this a go. ta.
