Keep policy running after selling a car

I was just going to cancel it but i think i'm going to keep the policy running for a few weeks till i get a new car if i can. Is there anything that can go against me by keeping the policy running when i don't own the car?

Nothing whatsoever, it's ideal to keep your No-Claims running etc anyway.

Yes, there was a thing in the news a while ago.

Can't remember the exact details, but basically a guy did as you say. Then got fucked over after the new owner didn't insure it, crashed and did some damage.

Have a search as I can't be fucked.

How can you possibly have any bother with your own insurance if you've sold a car. Insurance doesn't come into it, you've sold the car, if you have a receipt of sale with date and time it's the new owner's problem.

I could take out an insurance policy on your Sandero tomorrow, it wouldn't matter one jot. I'd not be able to drive the car without your permission, and I'd have to state that I wasn't the registered owner of the vehicle, but I could still take out an insurance policy on the car to cover me to drive it, even I knew I would never drive it and I'd be pissing money into the wind.

Should be fine for a few weeks yes. I'm sure I left a policy running for a month or so on a car I no longer owned, and everything was ok.

If he's intending to replace the car within a few weeks it's pointless canceling the policy only to re-insure it.

Just ring your insurance up and put it on hold until you get a new car
