Important! : uprated engine mounts

  1. #1
I have changed the engine mounts 3 times now and for some reason they keep getting ruined... possibly really Sh** quality mounts.
2 weeks ago I changed all 3 mounts just to make sure but now I hear sounds again from the mount under the ECU.

So i think bout time to get some uprated mounts for this car (106 s16).

It is my daily road use car, so which mounts should I go for and would it cause the car to vibrate more if I get uprated mounts ?

Any disadvantages to uprated mounts ?

    thnx

I'm changing from uprated to original as the Vibratechnics is to stiff for me. I drive a lot of motorways/highways.

I'm starting with the upper mount and hopefully that'll do the trick!

DO you have all 3 Vibratechnics Road version ??

Do they make the car vibrate ?

you have 106 or saxo ?

Nope, I just have the upper one. The lower on is a superflex and the gearbox is either original or baker BM. The car vibrates as hell above 90 km/h Never experienced this much vibration before with a car with updated mounts. It maybe has to do with the design of the higher mount, that it is "upside down" compared to the XU engines.

It's a Saxo VTS by the way.

Which uprated mounts should I get to have no vibration ? I drive regularly above 90km/h and also regularly in traffic. any advise ?

You could try changing just the lower bush to an uprated one and then leaving the top two standard.

Any special offers for New Year or Christmas ? I am not in UK so I rather buy the full set so I don't have to pay shipment every time

    oH SORRY !
The thing is uprated mounts are made for fast road / race car.... Why would it vibrate over 90km/h ?? race cars are made to go fast not under 90 !!!

Race car = you don't care about the vibrations

i think you are being very unfair to vibra technics mount as you have a toal bodge up of 3 different makes of mounting and not a set from any one maker

i have never had a vibration problem with them when fitted as a complete set

youwill need to get another bracket to convert back to std mouning now as yuowould have had to drill it out to take the 12mm bolt .

Not sure how the vibratechnics mount compares but the Baker BM design has a metal insert in the top engine mount which can be removed to soften the vibrations...

SO you recommend BBM ? it will vibrate less ?

How strong are the vibrations ? as i had never seen or tried them.

If you want standard type ride comfort then fit standard engine mounts.
Both designs use a relatively small design rubber top bush so you will certainly have increased vibration but i think the Baker mount will be your better option and offer a softer solution. Rubber mounts will soften a little with time too.

What do you mean? Do I have to modify it for the original bushing?

think yuo have just answered my point --
fitted correctly they have no problems

In my experience, fitting an uprated/ poly lower gearbox insert and leaving the others standard is the worst thing you can do in terms of vibrations. At the very least, you want to uprate the upper gearbox one too - I find it massively reduces the NVH compared to having just the uprated lower gearbox mount.

Vibratechnics are the Rolls Royce of engine mounts. If you stick with their slightly softer "road use" rubber, you should have a perfect setup for road and track use.

It was fitted when I bought the car and haven't looked at it. If I managed to rebuild a RHD car to a LHD car I think I'll manage to modify a small engine mount. So keep your bullshitting to yourself...

Uprated mounts upper right and upper gearbox with original lower gearbox = really bad vibrations

Well the BBM gearbox mount and vibratechnics road mounts are different shore ratings. The polybush lower will be again although I've no experience of the brand to know what shore it is exactly. That will be why they are not working in harmony. The road version of the vibratechnics should work fine for your car as thats what its specifically designed for.

KamRacing I bought from your website Vibratechnics Road version mounts, still I did not an email about shipment... I hope fitting all Road version will be bearable.

Fitted a new original upper right mount today. What a difference it made! Best spent £20 ever! Didn't need to modify, so thank you axsaxoman for your insightful reply.

So now I have a upper right Vibratechnics mount for sale.

So you would ship next Monday ?
Yet i'm not in Europe... i'm in Lebanon ! Hope you won't ship to a lucky 106 owner in Europe

He was just saying mate. As u said it was fitted when you bought. Maybe previous owner fitted incorrectly. The advice this guy can give u would be a lot more advisable and usable than most others considering he's run a successful business for the past many years at tuning cars and is very respected among the Citreon and Peugeot scene.

And if I'm correct the Vibratechnics bolt the goes into the mount should be 12mm. Correct me if I'm wrong tho. So original mount shoul have been modified. Standard mount Bolt on point to mount will be loose and not hold properly if this has happened. If it wasn't drilled out to the specified measurement the the Vibratechnics mount was NOT fitted correctly.
