Oil cooler and exhaust

  1. #1
Ive recently purchased a VTS track toy from a friend. He used it on a few track days and mentioned that he would have looked towards getting an oil cooler based on how it performed before. Ran mint but just got pretty hot in comparison to a fiesta running a front mounted oil cooler.

What are people using? Where can i get one? is anyone selling one? wheres the best mounting position? im guessing central front is the best place and maybe modify the bumper to improve air flow around it and the radiator.

The car has an exhaust on it at the moment but its too loud for my liking... i used to have a 205 Gti many moons ago and PugSport were all the rage back then... is this still the case? im guessing the 106gti vs Saxo is a very similar car so cant see any immediate reason one wouldnt fit. Again, what have people found to be the best for performance and practicality? the car will only be used for weekends/track days/nurburgring trips but i dont want ringing ears when i get out!

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    Welcome to the forum

Mocal 13 row coolers (or however big you need) either in front of the radiator or behind a foglight tend to be favourite positions.

If it's for a track car an oil thermostat isn't needed but if the car sees road use too then it's worth thinking about as overcooling the oil = bad.

Thanks for the reply Ross... yeah it will see plenty of road use so i need something thats practical and works.

Wheres the best place to get them? is a 13 row tested to be the best with the VTS? dont need an overkill but something too small is pointless.

Behind a foglight hole isnt a bad shout, saves restricted air flow over the rad.

Exactly, that was my initial question.
Does the kit you sell have that?

    No, as I stated above.

Recently fitted a 13 row mocal cooler with thermostat in front of the water rad, and the oil was running too cool in normal driving conditions.

Now it's behind the water rad and works perfect.

Thanks for the replies guys... i need to look at what exhaust it has on at the moment but i want something thats not too loud. This is extremely loud.
Saying that, the car will have minimal use so not too sure what to do at the moment.
i will do a bit more research on the oil coolers before i commit to anything but thank you for the offers.
