Rocker cover pressure?!

  1. #1
Hi I've just bought a saxo vtr.
I noticed there is a positive pressure in the rocker cover when idling.
If I take the oil cap off there is air coming out, I wasn't sure if this was meant to be a negative pressure or wether positive pressure was normal on the vtr.
    Many thanks
Also, If someone could see what theirs is doing when the cap is removed I'd really appreciate it!

this is normal as far as I'm aware. along as you breather pipe is clear it will do no harm to your engine

Ok, I know a positive pressure can be normal for some engines but thought it was more common for them to have a negative pressure.
Just wondered if it was pressure leaking past the rings!
Would still be nice if someone could try it out if they have 30 seconds spare.
    Thanks

    Try what out?
    You got your answer.

If you bothered to check how an TU engine works you would know there is pressure is the covers, which is why there is a breathing hole.
And that the JP4 has an improved design with a hole in each as that was/is an issue with the J4.

So i ask again, try what?

Well try their car to see if there is a positive pressure with the cap off.
The original reply said 'it's fine as far as I am aware'.
This says to me that he/she wasn't 100% sure, which is why I asked for more clarification.
I have no idea why you are choosing to be a moron.
I'm only new and asking for help!

mine blew like a bastard through the filler hole

    Ok thanks very much

come on don,t be thick -- check breather pressure not by removing filler cap--that will chuck oil out --take pipe of the breather connection and feel
, Iam guessing on idle you have pressure if hhwen you lift rpm to say 2k it goes thats std --just a bit of old age --if it gets worse as you rev it --then there is too much wear in pistons /rings /bore
