change them mate, I just changed mine after changing the flywheel and getting the box on as I didnt bother when it was out. Not a difficult or time consuming job (30 mins max) but I kicked myself for not doing it when it was out this and it was difficult to find some on a sunday afternoon.
No pictures from me as I didnt take any when swapping but its really easy:
get the shafts out, if you have a vtr or vts you'll need to undo the bolts on the bearing carrier on the block, rotate the heads and then pull the shaft out.
Then the seals just prize out with a big screwdriver and you can tap the new ones home. I lube them in some gearbox oil or grease first though to help.

For the price of them it's worth doing if you have the access.

change them. They are not expensive and if you do have a leak after its a pain in the arse to do the job twice.

They should all be like that really, probably a cost saving exercise on the more common ones
