buying a saxo thats misfiring?

seen a saxo for sale vts thats beautiful and i want it now.

only problem is its misfiring, he says its been looked at in a few garages and they said it needs a new ecu as the one in it is from a different engine?

Is it worth the risk? could i just get the ecu unlocked and it would be okay? also has new coil pack and plugs fitted

unlocking the ECU won't fix it.

is it misfiring right through the range?

if you know someone with the right ECU thats unlocked and will fit, and you remove the immobiliser when its running (so you don't relock the ECU) you can see if it is actually the ECU.

the fact its at low revs is usually a coil or plug thats breaking up, or a leaky injector maybe? could even be the lambda sensors playing up.

just highly doubt its going to be the ECU

good idea. thats the problem with cars that have issues; you can end up chasing your tail trying to fix them!
