Just wondering if there's a noticeable difference I don't need back seats and going to be using it on track days I plan to take back seats door card roof liner carpet out

Back seats weigh naff all. The whole rear seat section in my larger Cit doesn't weigh much more! You'll lose a bit of weight stripping it out but its probably less than 50kg? There is a weight guide kicking around on here somewhere

All depends on if its a full time track slag or a daily driver too, as stripped out they are just massively noisy inside.

Running a stripped VTS as a work horse is fucking painful, especially with no stereo.

When i had the VTR seats out to lug a few bits around it drove me mad. The drone of the Magnex reverberated through the whole car. Plus the road noise.

I removed the back seats in my 106 Gti for a few days, but the noise is insane and the weight loss is less than 10kg.

They are seriously made from cardboard..

I did this to my old 106 GTi. Including various other deletes from the entire car. If its not a daily driver then I guess no harm (also consider your lack of ability to haul people around).

But noise wise it is a nightmare day to day. Just removing your back seats wont make much difference. Think my 106 was down to about 820kg (includes a half cage) before I sold it on. It did "feel" substantially quicker, but then it also had an S1 Rallye box fitted and a less restrictive exhaust.

Just do it, would only take a weekend to do a good job and if you dont like it you can put it all back in! Simples!

I recorded a lot of weight info in my build thread, mainly the weight of the former fatty D4MJT

i drive a stripped out 106gti everyday 2 miles to work and back.

I do have buckets fitted aswel, i have a stereo and the dash in with the front door cards, the back end is empty pretty much.

Can say if your gonna drive further than that to work and back, dont do it unless you plan on removing other stuff, swapping alloys for lighter variants removing the rear wheel cage etc etc. its painful and the road noise is horrendous. But on the plus side, you do have a very small "van" if you need to lump shit about.
