#2Don't think there's a lot you can do, looks like there's no paint left
-
#4Best thing would be give it a rub down and a quite coat of satin black.
-
#5looks like someone has painted it, badly and the paint is falling off. You can buy specific bumper paint that does not need sanding (you don't want to sand it anyway)

#6I'd rather not paint it wanting to keep the bump strips original. Had a painted kit on before just put a new VT kit on.Quote:Best thing would be give it a rub down and a quite coat of satin black.
It's definitely not painted as the rest of it comes up well with bumper gel. Not sure what's happened to it to remove the outer layer I'll have a hunt for that bumper spray you've mentioned. Do you have a link for it?Quote:looks like someone has painted it, badly and the paint is falling off. You can buy specific bumper paint that does not need sanding (you don't want to sand it anyway)
I'm on the lookout for a replacement anyways but there a nightmare to find. -
#7My side strips were the same.

#8Done all mine yesterday will post pictures in my progress thread later

#9Wanting to keep bump strips original? I don't understand, they would have been black, not grey out of the factory?
Don't bother yourself with looking for this gel, looking for that wax...
I've done rub strips with a can of gloss black from the poundshop before now, you can spend all the money you like on 'bumper gel' but it's never going to look the same as a fresh spray? The money you've probably spent on other shit trying to get it right, you could have bought some proper wet and dry, high build primer and a sexy shade of black by now?
I did just this, did them pearl black and they look the sex when the sun hits it!
I've got some before and after pictures of my car - when I bought it it had a massive scuff out of the corner on the rear rub strip. i'll try and dig the pictures out.
In my experience with painting it's more about the technique than the products you buy, take your time and do it right and it'll come up brand new!
