1.6 8v VTS from 2003 tuning help?

I dont have alot of money, but maybe just to tune it around 30-40 hp extra? I have cup intake, sports exaust, thats about it i think. It has around those 100hp i think, and im thinking around 140 would be great i know a remap gives it around 12 hp as it is now, but like i said i want a little more its gone 172.xxx km so im guessing it can take a tuning Give me some ideas, maybe also some guides? I would like to say at the end, if possible a oil pressure gauge would be nice

To get those figures you'd need a turbo, cheapest option is to fit a 16v vts engine. Then performance cams.

    2 options really

    1) individual throttle bodies with high lift camshaft on your current engine

    2) VTS engine with high lift camshafts

Why do you want more power? is it for straight line acceleration? if so the cheaper option would be a short ratio gearbox

If its for track use then a set of semi slick tyres would made a noticeable difference

its for street race, top speed and acceleration. I just want it to hit a 100 faster, and the top speed to be around 230, and also i need it to pull it fast..

I presume you mean 62mph and 142mph? - Good luck on the latter.

completely strip it out and fit a short ratio gearbox

    that's the cheapest option

You will struggle to hit 125mph in a VTR

    I wouldn't trust your speedo

Now saxo's are at least 12 years old they won't quite be as quick as when they left the factory

I agree but that was sat nav speed so bit more reliable! Was like 136 on the speedo which I thought was optimistic, that's why I did it again but with the sat nav on

My VTR runs out of puff at about 125...
it will keep going but i'd need a lot of road to hit anything over 130

That's minus the 10% speedo inaccuracy, not having a go it's just that everyone realises.
