Personally think its a lot of work for not much gain if you're dropping another 8v in, you will need a 3 plug ecu and loom and make sure it matches up to your interior loom and then you need engine complete with all the sensors and inlet and exhaust manifold, should be ok using your gearbox and running gear, may want to buy a new clutch, but its a pretty straight forward swap really.

Does it have to be a 3 plug Ecu and 8v won't stay standard I use a vtr daily and it's quick enough for me I prefer handling over power and I don't wanna chase power in a tin can I'm gunna use daily if I was to track it this would be a different matter 16v all the way 😉

It doesn't have to be 3plug but I would personally stick to 3 plug if that's what the car already has to save any other issues of it matching up

Sorry to butt in on your post......
I've just put a 1.1 engine in my 106, it had a c2 1.4 engine in it but was running from a vtr ecu, to cut a long story short head went and I found a whole engine with everything on it for cheaper than a diy head gasket replacement!

Anyway..... This new engine has a 1.1 ecu, is the imobiliser built into the ecu, if so, will my original key work with this ecu, can I program the key to the ecu if it don't start? If none of above, will there be much problem with running a vtr ecu on a 1.1? Ran ok with 1.4!
