Stud & Nut Conversions

  1. #1
After scratching my head a bit over trying to source extended flat seated wheel bolts, i've come to the conclusion I'd probably be as well looking in to a stud and nut conversion.

Have done a bit of searching on the subject, but most of the content I can find is a few years old now so i'm not sure whether the suppliers mentioned are still going (madaxgt seems to have been the best shout - does he still deal with these?)

So....... is it still the case I should steer clear of the ones you can find on Rally Design for around a pound a stud?

Where else can I source good ones with flat seated nuts that'll accomodate oem wheels?

What length of stud should I be looking at to allow introduction of a spacer (10-15mm)??

Any current advice and recommendations appreicated

Thanks buddy, i'll look in to that - those look decent!

Out of interest, what sorta length of stud should I be looking at?

Will an 80mm stud have enough on it to accommodate a 10mm spacer as well as nut?

I'll measure the ones I've got (they're cheap) tomorrow for you, as they're in an axle on the garage floor. There was plenty of thread left after 20mm spacers. I'm sure you'll be fine with the ones on the rally reg. remember the nut is hollow!

i just checked an o.e flat face wheel and a taper seat pro race 1.2, the former was 17mm the latter 8mm to the start of the taper.

allow for 10mm of threads at the most in the drive flange, 6mm iirc of disc bell, leaving 64mm, -17 for a flat seat and 47mm left over for a nut.

    Cheers for that mate, appreciated.

So an 80mm stud would be fine.

Have contacted the guy from the RR group buy - only thing is that his flat faced nuts come without a captive washer like the OE ones do.

Should that concern me? What even does the washer do and how important is it?

I got his conversion kit a while back, mine are 80mm and I run a 10mm spacer
