Supercharged 106 Mini Cooper S

    Right I've seen thus done quite a few times now, with the 8vs people tend to mount above the alternator and with the 16v using a shaft and mounting above the gearbox. Now cost, I know super chargers are a lot more engine friendly and I'm not after shed loads of power as still want it drive able for the track as that's really all the car is used for. Once I get the supercharger and front mount what more else will I need? How much roughly am I looking as the rotrex path is bloody expensive.

    In terms of mounting etc are these off the shelf products or need to be custom made? Basically want a cheap alternative to rotrex with the obvious power/heat drawbacks.

    Management will I need something like omex or would mf2 do the job? Thank you

    Stock ECU could run that, no problem.

    So then what would I need for this to work? Car is ready for more power! Virtually bare inside albait a dashboard and 1 seat, poly windows all round, poly bushed all round, Gaz coil overs, 206 GTi brakes, half cage, satchshift everything basically.. been building it for last 3 years now in need of power and the supercharger sounds a good and cheap route for some more thrills. Currently has 421 manifold and Saxsport plus enclosed filter but I need more power, lots more power lol

    there is not a cheap alternative to a rotrex ,that is as easy to fit --
    your only other choice is an eaton unit, which you will be making all the bits for to make it fit

    and it will run twice as hot as a rotrex -- so will need much better intercooling as well
    some people removed the eaton unit from early s/c minis and replaced with rotrex and got alot more power for same boost level

    stock mini s/c ran 15psi --made 160 bhp
    stock vts engine +rotrex +7psi gives 170+bhp --

    I understand where your coming from. We have a 210bhp JCW Mini R53, supercharged obviously but it's bloody quick just a heavy car, whereas in the 106 I think it will be plenty of power for the weight. I know they suffer with heat however a big cooler is do able. It's the price tag, 1k plus for the rotrex and 100-200 for Eaton M45. What would I actually need to try and see how much it will cost? ITBs sound good but going to need standalone management for them really

    So if I got myself a set of ITBs and brought the car down to you, you would be able to map the standard ecu to run as well as an aftermarket standalone item? How much would I be looking at?

    No, it would run better than any aftermarket ECU because the stock ECU is many times more sophisticated.
    £450 including optimising the cams and balancing the throttle bodies, as long as everything works as it should. So much cheaper than buying even a cheap nasty aftermarket ECU plus wiring mapping etc.

    would subsequent mapping sessions cost less due to the mods needed to the ecu?

    any other guys in the uk doing magnetti and bosch ecu's?

    If by this you mean map the standard Ecu, automark in stokesley near middlesbrough can do it.

    Many can drop the map into the unit, but I don't think may can do the actual map.

    Mark is a sound guy, we occasionally swap info.

    He hasn't gone into them quite as far as I have though, I doubt anyone on earth has to be honest. He can map the stock ECU for normal applications but I'm not sure he's done them with throttle bodies though.

    I'm sure he could if he tried and had the time to do the homework needed.

    He mapped my 16v ITB rallye on DTA management, when I got talking to him he mentioned he could remap the standard Ecu. I don't no if that included bodies or not tho. Nice guy and really seems to no his stuff.His waitng list peaks volumes. I waited about 7 weeks to get my mapping done.
