1.6Vti Engine (EP6) on Saxo ?

I found a donator for my Saxo 1.1... It is a Ds3 1995 special edition (crashed)

I have plans to shap interior, engine and gearbox if I can.

It is an aspirated 1.6Vti engine with drive-by-wire throttle, however I have all the 3 pedals so, I shold be able to swap the Gas pedal.

The question is: Is this possible Is there any 1.6Vti engine (PSA) on Saxo ?

Im also a dealer of Megasquirt (Open Source ECU) so in the worst scenario, I should be able to start this engine, but it would be nice if Im able to use the original ECU (from DS3, inmobilized)

I wouldn't bother with a vti engine, there's no benefit to it over a TU5J4.

anything is possible, if you really wanted an EP series engine I'd at least get a turbo one.

Yes you are right , however I´m not able to find a TU5J4 here (argentina) in a good condition and the DS3 Unit have only 10.000 km old, I mean this is like new except for the exterior that is crashed. I mean: engine + gearbox new... this is the most important for me.

QUESTION: Do you know if the engine mounting and gearbox mounting on EP6 models (aspirated) are similar to saxo o TU5J4 ?

About the EP6 Turbo option: Im not able to handle Direct Injection with Megasquirt (ECU) then I need to find a unit in good condition with ECU, BSM , etc... and this is more dificult.

If its NOT direct injection ..then should be simple enough
next step if you want to go nuts is to s/c or after market turbo --that engine will take much more heat than old tu5 due to wet liners

all engine mounts will need to be custom, physical size is very similar.

Im not sure if I understand you , but in the past we have tried to convert the EP6 Turbo version from direct injection to indirect (to be able to handle with Megasquirt) but it was impossible due to the high 11.5:1 compression ratio + Turbo this engines are built only to work with direct injection.

I didnt know about wet liners, were can I read about?

About Turbo, If I´m able to reach 140hp on 750Kg I will be very happy.
I also have an alfa V6 3lts Turbo with 450hp and a Daihatsu Charade gtti 1.0Turbo with 120hp so, Its time for "aspirated"

the direct injection engine have funny shaped pistons and injectors squirt directly into combustion chamber --not into inlet manifold
I know they made a non direct injection version for some markets.
there is no way a simple ecu like mega squirt will run direct injection.won,t be enough pwm drivers to run all the extra bits + it needs fly by throttle and totally variable boost even from 1000rpm onwards to work
i would not advise trying it for an after market conversion --very complicated+ you get no more power with direct --direct is all about emission control . first job to after market turbo one would be new flat top pistons +block up injector holes +new inlet manifold set up
your problem with getting big power from the EP6 is no one makes aftermarket cams for them --but if you went s/c then you can get 50-60% minimum increase in power at same rpm using your mega squirt and no internal mods to engine . you should think of a s/c car as a n/a but 50% bigger capacity --it drives just like an n/a power rises indirect proportion to engine rpm
wet liners are fitted in alloy block engines and have a space between them to allow water flow all around them

I will research to supercharge the EP6 with a few PSIs. If Im luky... the exhaust manifold and Turbo from "EP6 Turbo" is plug and play with the "EP6 no turbo" and then with megasquirt should not be a problem.

I'm pretty sure the turbo EP6 engine is the same one that's in the new minis. I'm sure more people modify mini's so there may be more information online about turbocharging a MINI one, or about fitting a Cooper S manifold & turbo to a N/A mini one.

hi --no ont that simple as the ep6 has pump to provide pressure to work the waste gate through pwm valve control
waste gate--- would be best choice is naturally open not shut as in old style turbo -- so it needs pressure to shut it --thats how they an have boost at any rate at any rpm they want--thats why i say s/c is alot simpler
if you going turbo then one from a subarau or evo would be my choice as they make boosy low down in rpm and a std evo turbo can make 360 bhp

Sell the ep6 and look for a jp4 it will be much simpler and cheap
