Important! : Peugeot 106 GTI brakes

Hi, im planning to upgrade my saxo 2000 1.5diesel front brakes with some discs, pads and calipers from a peugeot 106 GTI, is it a straight bolt on fit? Will i have issues with clearance from the stock rims on a saxo? And will they be better at stopping than the saxo ones?

You will have better results from a brake set up from a 306 gti6/206 gti 180 (rc)however clearance may be a issue if your running 14” Wheels I’m pretty sure 106 gti brakes aren’t all that great anyway however I could be wrong

I wanted to use the gti brakes because my rims are stock and cant afford big brakes because of clearance issue, cant recall if rims are 13 inch or 14 inch i forgot. But you think the gti brakes will be a bolt on? I heard they add good pedal feel

you dont need massive brakes with just 58 bhp, so yes the stock 106 gti brakes will work just fine, they wont feel much different at all to your brakes.

they will clear 14" wheels easily, and the diameter is fine for 13" but I'm not sure if they clear the face of the wheel, try them.

I am planning to change them because mine need replacing anyway, they are all rusted and doesnt stop well i need to press the pedal a bit hard for it to stop. I recently replaced rear wheel cylinders and cleaned all the brakes and changed brake fluid and bled all 4 brakes, the braking improced but still its nit quite stopping good enough. Do you reccomend that i do something else? I dont want to replace my wheels for brake upgrades

in that case I would try new standard discs and pads, ensure the caliper sliders are free moving as well as the pistons free from corrosion.

My caliper is a bendix caliper, it doesnt have sliders it just have bolts that secure the caliper, i didnt have any pins with grease on them, that being said all calipers are working properly, they are not binding or anything, the only issue is when im driving i hear a slight rubbing noise from the pads i think (that type of noise when the discs and pads are new) and when i brake it goes away. Can this be the because of the rust on the rotor? It has about 6mm of rust on the edge of the rotor all around

the 1.5d brakes are genuinely that shit. they're solid front discs and fade really easily.

The rust is probably what your scraping noise is.

Gti front calipers are a good upgrade. there's no need to upgrade the drums to discs. it's just extra weight

They fit under the standard 13" wheels no problems. loads of clearance.

Ok so i will buy a set of gti front discs, a set of brake pads and a set of used gti calipers and rebuild them myself

they do have sliders, every caliper has sliders unless they are an opposed 2 or 4 or 6 pot

So the GTI calipers will bolt on straight on the hub without any modification right ?

The carriers and the caliper will. yes.
