New to the site and to Saxos, about 6 months ago I bought a saxo vtr to turn into a track car made loads a progress with it fitted a roll cage, buckets, harnesses, short shift, vts alloys, apex lowering springs, drilled and grooved discs, red stuff pads, stripped out, full exhaust system including manifold and probly loads of other things ive forgotten.i recently bought a turbo kit for the car very cheap, the manifold, turbo all the pipe work and intercooler ready to bolt up. So far Ive found I need to convert to the mk1 oil filter which isnt an issue my only questions are to do with fueling.i wont be running a huge amount of boost coz its just not needed on a track car.the lad I bought it off had st170 injectors and ran a piggyback ecu. I really dont want to get into all that I just want a simple set up I can use and not go crazy spending money on just the turbo kit. So far Ive looked into fitting some bigger injectors like some out a 2.0 xu engine and then just have it mapped up properly on a rolling road. Is that a possible useable set up? Sorry for the huge paragraph just when the weather the gets better I want start progress and use it soon

#2I did a turbo conversion on my vtr last year it was a headache but the outcome was worth it injector wise I used Porsche Cayenne injectors and as for mapping the only man for the job is Wayne at chipwizards the stock ecu isn’t easy to map and Wayne is the only one who can do it also don’t forget u will also need a 2bar map sensor found in the 207 gti also converting to a mk1 oil filter isn’t as easy as it sounds as the oil filter adapters are no longer made by Citroen anymore and there are only a few left dotted around the country my progress thread is in the members gallery if u want a nose I will try answer as many questions as I can for u

Here u go

#3Cheers mate thanks for the help, were the Porsche injectors a direct swop?
-
#4Yea mate straight in I’m pretty sure they were out of a cayenne but Wayne might need to confirm as he fitted them for me
-
#5This is the exact help I was looking for theres pages and pages of people talking crap about how u need this and that and I really didnt think it was all needed to run low boost, I think you might be my saviour lol
-
#6Haha no worries mate you doing anything about the compression ?? I fitted a 1.7mm mls headgasket to mine to lower compression
-
#7I think at first Im juat guna run it and see how it goes, if it pops the head gasket il just change it ver when the time comes not to worried bout that part
-
#8It wouldn’t be the hg that pops mate if anything it would be a ring just be careful but even if it does blow vtr engines are cheap as chips anyway I did sort of a vlog on YouTube of the build if you search yodaracing it will bring up my channel
-
#9Will do cheers for the help, what sort of power did u make?
-
#10I ran 173bhp at 8psi as I wanted it safe and not a ticking time bomb as the engine had done over 100k
-
#11Who? Me? I know nothing. :-)
I think they were VAG 18T injectors in yours Craig.
Bosch Part number 0280156063 from memory.
MAP sensor part number 0261230135. Only use an absolutely 100% genuine Bosch one or you'll be sorry. -
#12Its the just man the man Im looking for Haha, would it possible for me to
Give u a ring at some point and pick your brains about the parts I need and the mapping :-) -
#13It's pointless calling, I never answer the phone.
The sensible thing to do is get your turbo fitted and plumbed and just drive it very steadily so that it doesn't make boost or stick a one-way valve in your dump valve vac line so that it just stays open, venting the boost so it doesn't make any on your way here.
Fitting the injectors and MAP sensor could be done when you get here.
Are you on a three-plug ECU? -
#14Ahhh were they ? I just remember getting them from that Porsche place with u haha
Adam listen to this man he is very wise and knowledgable -
#15I can fit all the parts and do all that work my self, just more of thing of needing to no what parts I need and il trailer the car to you when the time comes as its only for track use
-
#16And ye it’s a 3 pin
-
#17What bits u unsure about mate
-
#18You're OK if you can trailer it then, just for most people it's easier to drive them to mine.
I've got a MAP sensor in stock if you need one? -
#20I think Im sorted on th parts now.207gti map sensor, vag injectors, need to fit a dump valve ,convert to mk1 oil filter, oil pressure gauge and boost gauge then in time fit a better clutch and 1.7mm or 1.9mm head gasket
-
#21All sounds good mate
-
#22This hard to find threaded adaptor for the oil filter conversion by the looks of things is just an 8mm threaded oil/air adapter.just been routing through stores at work and an 8mm airline fitting threads into a oil filter perfectly and it has a hollow center to allow oil/air through it, does anybody know the length of the fitting from citroen
-
#23Its not 8mm its 10mm lol
-
#24Alright mate Ive had a look at your videos, all good stuff. My only question is where did you plumb the duno valve vacuum pupe into, can just barely see the t piece on the bulk head
-
#25At the back of the engine you will see a vac line that goes from your master cylinder to the throttle body I teed into that here’s a pic the vac line is the blue one hope this helps
-
#26Cheers mate thought that’s where it was, bought a big brake kit today and spoke to 2 lads both running basically the same turbo conversion that I’m going to be running and both of them haven’t changed the headgasket, both ran the standard gasket and said theve never had a problem and one then was doing well over 200bhp
