to get cammed up. and maybe ported, polished, chipped and all the rest of it.

the thing i need from u who are slightly more cleverer than myself is -

what do i need, where do i get it from, and how much is it gonna cost me?

    cheers all. kev
  2. #2
why the fuck are you gonna get it chipped?!?!?
  3. #3
cat cam 708 around 350 from qep
kent pt51 around 450 -500 from shed loads of places, just google cheapest or if anyone knows.
decent headwork is gonna be 4-500 depends what you have done, how much is ported etc as more takes longer. you can skim it, have three angled valve seats. again qep. its optional, you may just want a simple port and polish. just ring qep and tell them what cams you will be running.

ecu remap - 450 from wayne at chipwizards

as above you dont wanna be chipping it, waste

    voila
  4. #4
sorry, i just read that and it sounds like im ranting at you, sorry, you don't wanna be getting it chipped though matey, get a re-map as bullit said!
  5. #5
    bullit cheers - rep added

jezpick - i'd imagine the other changes would require a re-map at least? i'm not an expert
  6. #6
Cat Cams are £380 approx and are highly recommended there from QEP, to get the most out of those badboys you'll need a remap (£400) or Standalone ECU it all gets very confusing when decided what options suits you best so i'll leave it at that.

Porting and polishing the head is around £4oo I believe Qep also do them.

But before you have all this but its all abit pointless if you haven't got the full exhaust system and induction.

So in summary you need to let us know what you have and where you want to take it, its also wise to let us know how much your spending.
  7. #7
QEP are the way forward then bullit (LOL)
  8. #8
yes mate, don't re-map your car until you've sorted all your mods out, otherwise your throwing away valuable dosh!
  9. #9
QEP are the way forward then bullit (LOL)

    looks like it
  10. #10
    so far i have-

    2000 mk2 vts
    bmc induction kit
    raceland 4-2-1 manifold
    full magnex from there back

dont really wanna spend more than a grand.

If you want to add some more options to the mix then take a look at the thread I made earlier there's a link to SSC which will give you loads of different options but its all good fun:

Just cams and a remap then for that kind of money so Qep and chipwizards are the people to speak to.

Many people have seen 160bhp with the same kind of setup as you, which I'm ensured is more than enough fun .
  13. #13
for a grand mate you could get some catcam 708s fitted and a remap. jd
  14. #14
    go away lol
edit- you could sling a decat on aswell
  15. #15
ets2k9- that link just confused me!
jd - i'm already de-catted. where could i get the cam and map done?

    160bhp sounds good 2 me!
  16. #16
how many miles has your car got on? you may be best off changing the belt while your fitting your cams.
  17. #17
85k - belt was changed a couple of thou ago
  18. #18
should be able to stick them straight in then. i would think about new lifters though with that mileage on.
  19. #19
wot are lifters? excuse my stupidity!
  20. #20
they are between you cam and the top of the valve springs.
tbh, they may be ok to just stick the cams in with. QEP would advise you best. they are canny expensive aswell. £16 each, and theres 16!!!
  21. #21
    best speak 2 qep then.

    cheers bud rep for u
  22. #22
no bother, always keep an eye on ebay and on SSC as cams often come up for sale. so do mapped ECUs on the odd occasion.
i got my cams for £200 and mapped ecu for £50
  23. #23
cheers bud. unfortunately i'm not the kind of person who could do this myself! nor do i no anyone who could do it cheep. bummer!
  24. #24
if you weren't so far away i could. garages will probably charge about £150 labour for fitting.it should take 1-2 hours to fit the cams so if they try tell you 5 hours (which i have known some say) go somewhere else.

    Williams - I hate you.

  26. #26
lol, i always seem to stumble upon these great deals the day an idea comes into my head just need to get the map tweaked and cam timing set perfect, which will be done next friday
  27. #27
Dont tell me anymore I dont want to here anything else about your good fortune.

Naa mate - only jokin I which I could find some cams & remaps for that kind of price.
  28. #28
all i do when i want something is phone or text everyone that would have a slight chance of knowing anyone that might have it.
  29. #29
Track me some cams and an remapped ECU then
  30. #30
ol, is yours single plug? will keep my ears open
  31. #31
    cheers ste
  32. #32
    its the dreaded 3 plug.
  33. #33
    same as mine
  34. #34
and mine. All my ECUs are 3 tugs!
  35. #35
This might be a load of shit but I have heard that the 3 plugs are more difficult to map????
  36. #36
I've heard that they are also a bit wank
  37. #37
i think its a myth, also heard that tthey dont make as much power but dave has got the good side of 160hp and finn got 160hp aswell.
  38. #38
Who knows then? As long as I make a decent amount of power I'll be happy.
  39. #39
i wouldnt worry to much about the figure tdh, it will totally change the car though
  40. #40
That's good I'll just wait for you to get me some cams & management now and if Dave stops bidding on the BTB I'll be laughing .
  41. #41
oooh, that BTB, best get mi bid in

    (joke btw!)
  42. #42
I've just got mine in as some chump had out bid me.
