another cam question (8v)

in the early black tops are all the cams the same from the 1.0, 1.1, 1.4 to the vtr?./
i heared the vtr cam was a bit naff..
i took the cam out of the vtr engine and visually compared it with one from a 1.1 ax engine and the looked identical, though i looked at one from a carbed ax gt engine and that seemed to have a higher lift.
so i was just wondering is there any 8v engines with a better standard cam than the vtr one?... i was thinking ax gti as its pushing 100bhp compared to 90bhp of the vtr.. and ax gti is 1360 where as vtr is 1.6..
    any clues lads?.

AX gti is about one of the best but aren't we forgetting the S1 rallye?... 1.3 and 100bhp!... hmmmmmmmmmm....

lol..whatsyourbeef?... yeah we are but i cant get hold of a rallye cam unless i mug rallyeax so, the only option i have atm is gti..
somebody on axoc seems to think that all mpi cams are the same and its all done by the ecu map, i think thats bull crap because how can you map an engine to something its not capable of..
so, yeah i`ll take your word for it!.

Seriously the Gti has a better cam... which affects the valve timings... iirc the VTR has bigger valves... yet it pushes less power than a 1.4 gti?... for this to be untrue would be a huge failure in common sense.... but yes some of it does have to do with the map and the high rev factor

does the 1.1 not havea bigger base circle? making it have less lift?

i agree but, the high rev factor is determined by the cam isnt it?.. and the limiter of course, (but that can be removed with a standalone).
and the map is suited to each particular engine is it not?, though can you have a dual map i,e one for performance and one for economy?..
