Make sure the windows are very clean, and don't do them in anywhere near a breeze... So indoors ideally

if the windows arnt clean youll be able to tell! plenty of soapy water will help! and take your time when applying the film! if you get a crease youll have to cut another bit, as its difficult to get of a crease! time is the essence, youll notice when there done theyll be loads of bubbles at the edge, theyl dissapear with time!

i have never done it myself but i have been told its better to do it in the summer so it sticks to the window better.
  16. #16
ill proply get it dont professional in hte summer mate these are jsut cuz i cant afford to do them and i just wnted them to look sorta ok
  17. #17
Dont do them ive done it about 10times now and always end up with realy tiny bubbles in the tint....

Pro places must use certain stuff instead of washing up liquid and water, which i am yet to find out?

Wait and get it done pro mate or you will be wasting your time...

I tried doing this when I had a vectra. Went through LOADS of film and didnt even get the rear done. Spent hours doing it and eventually ripped it all from there, shouting at the top of my lungs and scrunching it up before setting it alight out of pure frustration.

Then i bought some pre-cut stuff for the car model and still had no luck. Eventually got someone who knows the right way to do it to sort it before i stabbed myself in the neck. Believe me, if you got worldly patience try it, if not - save on the stress and just pay a little more.

  22. #22
Lmfao listen to all of you lot, dont do them, its peice of piss the only hard one is the rear window the rest are easy as pie!
  23. #23
cheerz mate thats wot i like the here lol
  24. #24
Mate seriously yeah just take your time with it, Take the rear quaters right out, give them a clean, then squirt them with a light cover of water , Then stick your tint to the window and start pushing the water out with a credit card covered in some toilet roll or somthing so not to scratch it.

Keep doing that untill its all pushed out the best you can, you can give it a quick blast with a hairdryer as well, then cut off the shit round the edge you dont need, and put a small layer around the edge of the window of clear nail polish to seal the tint to the window so no water can get inside it, then quick blast with the hairdryer, and then pop them back in.

Not forgeting to cut the holes out for the pins that go through the window for your popers, lol, You will still have lots of water marks in them for a couple days but the sun will dry them out in a couple days and if you have your heaters on hot in your car they soon dry out.

Good luck mate and take your time.

cheerz mate im gonna go have a crack at it now so hopfully all will go well

and fanx very much have abit of rep lol
  26. #26

  27. #27
NO DONT USE THAT!! DONT USE THAT!!! Will leave loads of streaks just use water
  28. #28
just paster loadz and loadz of water??
  29. #29
yeah dont ave to plaster it mate, if youve got one of those squeezy bottol things that spray it out just enuf to cover the window.
  30. #30
right i started it at 4 cuz my mate come around and finished it at bout 5.45 so didnt take me and ma mate that long and we did a mint job on the first window then on the second window we cut it the wrong way so the tint went to wrong way lol (skool boy error lol) so we then had to scrap that and then get another peice which we creased :s but didnt have any more tint left so i then thought F**k it ill just put it on and it didnt come out that bad but i cant really see cuz its dark outside now so tomorrow will tell and then also ill take some pictures. see what you think i reacon its pretty good for a first timer lol
  31. #31
my tips come in handy then?

jus keep the inside of the car baking when ever ur out mate its a pain in the ass ull get sweaty as but drys them out in no time then
  32. #32
i havent put nail varnish on the outside of the rim mate but if u reccomnet doin that hen ill have to do it in a few weeks time when i get chance init.

i just need to find someone that will do my back window for me lol.

but thank you very much for all the advice mate ill get some pic up 2mora and see if i have passed or not lol
  33. #33
lol, well if you were closer to me id do it for ya lol. Best to do it in 3 parts, if you look at the pics in my progress thread you`ll see on the close pictures 3 lines across the back window, but from further away you cant see them, u just have to butt them up next to each other.

Erm... Its not essential but i recomend it coz it just seals the ouside rim of the tint to the window so should any idiots in your car leave the windows open while its raining none of the water can manage to get in.
  34. #34
oyea i see lol ill see how much the pros will charge me lol its only one window so shouldnt be alot really, might have it done at the same time as having a tinted sunstrip aswell
