I dont use that method, I just lock it to TDC through the hole in the block. Same with the cam pulleys, lock them through in the head. Then stick the belt on.

Be careful if you try and use the lines on the belt to line everything up, cos the GTi6 uses the same belt as the VTS, but has the marks in a different place.

on the crank pulley the is a line across it this needs to be at the bottom

just make sure all the lines on the belt match up the the crank and pulley markings
why do that? the locking holes are there for a reason, to lock everything at TDC.

Well somethings been wrong with belts I have bought, cos theyve been listed as GTi6 belts, and the lines were DEFFO in different places to standard Citroen belts.

Anjd Im with Williams, locking everything is the best way to do it,saves you trying to make sure the lines stay in the right places.

Because depending on who supplies it, itll come marked on the box for a variety of applications - I forget the others but there are a few engines which use this belt. Depending on if its intended to be sold for a 306, the belt will be marked as such, but the same part number will show in the stock file for all engines.

Hope I didnt stand up on my soap box too much.

because like a lot of parts from pug/cit, they use them same parts on a range of cars.
